Notes on 1 Corinthians 15:1-34
The Gospel
False Teachings had creep into the church At Corinth. Paul has spent this letter correcting where they have strayed from the faith they once had believed. 1 Cor 15:1-2. Here in this chapter the apostle states the most important doctrine of the Christian faith. The doctrine of the Gospel is centered around Christ being raised from
the Grave. All other religions of the world's leader have died, none have every come back to life. Christ Died,
was buried, and arose the third day.
By this length time Jesus’ body would have been stinking. Cp John 11:39. Remember Christ hands Would have
holes from the nail ( spikes) in both His hands and feet. Also his side was pierced, blood And water came out.
John 14:39. Jesus Christ is part of the God head co-equal with God. John 5:18; Cp John 10:30.
Many say Jesus was a great man, or a Prophet. This is what makes Christ being raised from the Grave so
important. It proves He was Emmanuel “God with us.” Mat 1:23; Cp John 1:1-4.
Christ lives today.
“Religious truth is captive in a small number of little manuscripts which guard the common treasures, instead of
expanding them. Let us break the seal which binds these holy things; let us give wings to truth that it may fly with
the Word, no longer prepared at vast expense, but multitudes everlastingly by a machine which never wearies to
every soul which enters life”.
        — Johann Gutenberg
The  King James Version of the Holy Bible (also known as the Authorized Version). Is the version everybody
defends today. The KJV is used in this study because more copies have been sold than any version or better yet
translation of the Bible the inspired word of God. At this time more commentaries of ancient origin have been
written using the KJV as the basic text. This makes the KJV the most important of all translation. We must be
careful in our approach to these matters.
       From the KJV
1 Thes 5:19  Quench not the Spirit.
1 Thes 5:20  Despise not prophesyings.
1 Thes 5:21  Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
1 Thes 5:22  Abstain from all appearance of evil.
2 Tim 2:15  Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be
ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Young's Literal Translation of the Holy Bible by J.N. Young, 1862, 1898 (Author of the Young's Analytical
Concordance). YLT is a translation used to add to the ultimate under of God’s word.
Many Bible students have and still use His Concordance in preparing both sermon and Sunday school lessons
from the KJV. Every copy we have in the English language is a translation of the original.
Some use difference text as a basic of the translation.
YLT here is used as another prospective in the study of God’s Word. Please to the Father to give both the
author And reader a greater understanding of God’s precious word. Jude 1:3,9.

From the Preface of the Contemporary English Version, A translation of the Bible God’s Holy Word.
“  The translators of the King James Version said,”… Variety of translations is profitable for finding out the
sense of the Scriptures” and “We affirm and avow that the very meanest translation of the bible in English, set
forth by men of our profession … contains the Word of God, nay is the Word of God.”
They even stated, “No, cause therefore why the word translated should be denied to be the Word, or Forbidden
to be current, notwithstanding that some imperfection and blemishes may be noted in the setting forth of it.”
Each English translation is, in its own right, the Word of God, yet each translation serves to meet the needs of
a different audience. In this regard, the CEV should be considered a companion—the mission arm---of traditional
translations, because it takes seriously the words of the apostle Paul that “ faith comes by hearing.” Rom 10:17.

“The Bible In Basic English was printed in 1965 by Cambridge Press in England. Published without any copyright
notice and distributed in America, this work fell immediately and irretrievably into the Public Domain in the United
States according to the UCC convention of that time.

The form in which the Bible is given here is not simply another example of the Bible story put into present-day
English. The language used is Basic English.

Basic English, produced by Mr C. K. Ogden of the Orthological Institute, is a simple form of the English language
which, with 850 words, is able to give the sense of anything which may be said in English. By the addition of 50
Special Bible words and the use of 100 words listed as giving most help in the reading of English verse, this number
has been increased to 1000 for the purpose of putting the Bible into Basic.”
BBE was reproduce from the program E-sword.net

Hebrew and Greek words can be translated in more than one way. Any who are familiar with Biblical languages
know that many phrases have several meanings. Therefore, it is a risky thing to suggest the translators have
erred. In most cases such objections reflect the shortsightedness of the critics, or else his or her lack of
understanding either the original or host languages. It is one thing to offer another possible translation and
another to state that a translation is in error. More times than not, the one who is mistaken is the critic.

Crowned With Glory The Bible from Ancient Text to Authorized Version
by Dr. Thomas Holland. Chapter 9: Translational Considerations
This Applies to any Translation of God’s Word. The Idea is to be open so God through The Holy Ghost
and His word Can speak to your soul. Please don’t limited this.

The whole wisdom of Salvation and Bible study is what the Eunuch said to Philip after Philip asked him if he
 understood.
Acts 8:31 KJV And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me?
And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.
Act 8:31  CEV The official answered, "How can I understand unless someone helps me?"
He then invited Philip to come up and sit beside him.
All that is endeavored here is A better under standing of God’s original Word.
2Tim 3:16 KJV All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof,
for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

1Cor 15:1 KJV  Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you,
                             which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
1Cor 15:2 KJV By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you,
unless ye have believed in vain.

1Cor 15:1 YLT And I make known to you, brethren, the good news that I proclaimed to you,
which also  ye did receive, in which also ye have stood,
1Cor 15:2  YLT through which also ye are being saved, in what words I proclaimed good news to you,
if  ye hold fast, except ye did believe in vain,
                           Facts
                                     1. Paul constantly reminds the Corinthians what he had presented ( told them ) to them
                                          earlier.
                                     2. Here he reaffirms it had not been distorted.
                                     3. Believing what the apostle preached, they were saved and preserved. John 6:27;
Rom 4:11; 2 Cor 1:22; Eph 1:13; Eph 4:30. When a ruler put their seal it could not be
undone or changed. Seal show the authority. Gen 41:42. A person
carrying the Ring ( seal ) had the same authority as the one who owned the Ring.
                                     4. Paul preaches the Good news.  Jesus Christ is, not was, the promise Saviour.
                                     5. Gospel = Christ died, was buried, and rose the third day just like the Old Testament has
                                          foretold.
                                     6. The apostle Paul is expressing the difference in true believers and the soul which only have
a head knowledge. Do you know if you died tonight where you would Spend Eternity.
Heaven or Hell ( the lake of Fire that burns forever. )

1John 5:13  BBE I have put these things in writing for you who have faith in the name of the Son of God,
so that you may be  certain that you have eternal life.

                                    7. A true believer has had a personal meeting with Christ as their personal Saviour.
                                      John 10:27; Rev 3:20.
                                    8. The apostle is not saying one could lose God’s work in saving their soul.
Paul certain did not believe he could lose the salvation his soul. He is in these verses
pointing out the significant of Christ being risen from the grave.
                                         Christ conquered Death.
If Jesus Christ didn’t raised from the grave then He ( Christ ) could not be the believers’
Saviour. The believer’s faith in Jesus would be in vain if He had not been raise from the
dead. God raising Christ from the grave, tell us He ( Christ ) won theVictory over death.
                                         1 Cor 15:55
1Cor 15:55 YLT  where, O Death, thy sting? where, O Hades, thy victory?'
                                    9. Ecc 3:14 YLT I have known that all that God doth is to the age, to it nothing is to be added,
and from it nothing is to be withdrawn; and God hath wrought that they do
                                                              fear before Him.
God executes our Salvation. We are to take nothing away from it or add to it.
These that are trusting that they can lose the salvation of their soul are not
trusting in God’s finished work. Eph 2:8-9
Eph 2:8 YLT for by grace ye are having been saved, through faith, and this not of you--of God the gift,
                                                                           9 not of works, that no one may boast;
God through Jesus Christ His Son saves our soul for the asking ( repentance ).
                                                  John 3:16
                                  10. Paul is in these verses is talking about False prophets and False teachers.
2 Cor 4:3-4; 2 Peter 2:1-2. Satan is the one that blinds the lost. He also oppresses the
Saved. The Devil or demons cannot dwell in the same abode as the Holy Ghost ( Spirit ).
1 Cor 3:16. The Holy Spirit dwells within every born again believer.
                                     John 3:3-8.
Satan or His demons can not take a way God’s Salvation of a person’s soul.
                                      Rom 8:38; 2 Tim 3:5.
The devil can confuse a Christian to the point they lose the power of God in their Life.
These verses are not meant to say one is losing the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
The power of God come from prayers, righteous living, studying God’s Word, and letting
God control your life. The devil can lead a christian into believing they are doing God’s
will. Paul persecuted the church even killing Christians thinking he was doing God’s will.

                                  11. False teacher start at the core of the Gospel.
                                             A. They deny the Virgin ( Sinless ) birth of Christ. The inheritance comes Through the
man. Christ father was the Holy Spirit. ( God ). Mat 1:18.
                                             B. They deny the deity of Christ. Christ was God in a man’s body.

                                             E. They deny Christ lives today and is seated at the right hand of the father.
                                                   They Deny Christ is coming again. Heb 1:13;2 Peter 3:10; Rev 1:7;
                                                   Heb 10:12; Heb 12:2.
Heb 12:2 YLT looking to the author and perfecter of faith--Jesus,  who,
over-against the joy set before him—
did endure a cross, shame having despised,
                                                                                             on the right hand also of the throne of God did sit down;
Heb 12:3  YLT for consider again him who endured such
gainsaying from the sinners to himself,
that ye may not be wearied in your souls --being faint.

                                  12. All believers are chosen or predestined to conform to the images of Christ Rom 8:28-29.

                                  13. Christ is risen and is a living God. Acts 14:15.

1Cor 15:3  KJV For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for
                            our sins according to the Scriptures;
1Cor 15:4  KJV And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the Scriptures:

1Cor 15:3  YLT for I delivered to you first, what also I did receive, that Christ died for our sins,

                                    to them. Rom 10:9-13.
                                2. Christ died for our sins, Past, Present, and Future.

we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of
Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
                                                                       1 John 3:9  KJV Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin;
for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is  born of God.

                                 3. Many religions and Life Styles follow the teachings of a dead leader.
Christ, the son of God The Father John 3:16;1 John 5:13, is the only one which came back
to life in a new body. A spiritual body that could be touched and could enter room with locked
                                    closed doors. John 20:24-29.

God raised him from the dead ( resurrection ) John 20:1-10
                                     Christ appeared John 20:11-31
                                 6. Rom 8:31-39 YLT
31 What, then, shall we say unto these things? if God   is   for us, who is against us?
32 He who indeed His own Son did not spare, but for us all did deliver him up,
how shall He not also with him the all things grant to us?
33 Who shall lay a charge against the choice ones of God? God is He that is declaring righteous,
                                                 34 who is he that is condemning? Christ is He that died, yea, rather also, was raised up;
who is also on the right hand of God--who also doth intercede for us.
35 Who shall separate us from the love of the Christ? tribulation, or distress,  or persecution, or famine,
or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
36 (according as it hath been written--`For Thy sake we are put to death all the day long,
we were reckoned as sheep of slaughter,')
                                                 37 but in all these we more than conquer, through him who loved us;
38 for I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor messengers, nor principalities,  nor powers,
                                                      nor things present,
39 nor things about to be, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing,
shall be able to separate us from the love of god, that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Who can be against the believer if Christ, God son died for our sins?
If Christ is for us who can do anything toward us?
Christ died, was buried, and rose the third day to a new body.
Today He is seated at the Fathers right hand. There He makes intercession
for the one that have made Christ Lord and master of their lives.
Christ is our advocate.  1 John 2:1.
All of this tells us Christ is alive today.

                                                                 Alive, alive. Alive forevermore.
                                                                  My Jesus is alive.
Alive forevermore. Alive, alive. Alive forevermore.

1Cor 15:5  YLT and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve,
                         Facts:
                                   1. Further proof, Christ was seen of Peter and the remaining apostles. Luke 24:13-23
                                   2. Cephas = Peter, Christ renamed him John 1:42.
According to notes 1Cor 1:12 of the CEV The Greek text has “Cephas”, which is an
Aramaic name meaning “rock.” Peter is the Greek name with the same meaning.
                                   3. The original number of the first apostles was Twelve, Luke 24:33-43, ever one knew who
Paul was talking about when he mention the twelve.

1Cor 15:6  KJV After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain
unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.
1Cor 15:6  YLT afterwards he appeared to above five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain

                            Facts:
                                     1. Christ was seen of over 500 Disciples or brethren all at the same time.
                                     2. Many believe this happen on the mount in Galilee. It is probable that it took place in
Galilee where Christ repeatedly directed the disciples to gather.
                                   Mat 28:10,16;Mat 26:32;Mat 28:7,10,16;Mark 16:7
                                     3. Some have died but for the most part some are still living.
                                     4. Sleep in the N.T. refers to physical death. The separation of the Soul and Spirit from
the body. The word of God is powerful enough. Heb 4:12.
                                     5. Paul is not talking about soul sleep. A Christian doesn’t Just go to the Grave,
only his or her body is buried. Christ won the Victory over death. When a believer passes
over to the other side, there is sweet peace like a restful sleep. We as believer though will
be wide awake praising God from the awe of the Greatness of Heaven in the
                                         present of the Lord.
The words “are fallen asleep” come from [Grk. 2837] koimao (koy-mah'-o)
to put to sleep, i.e. (passively or reflexively) to slumber; figuratively, to decease:
--(be a-, fall a-, fall on) sleep, be dead.

Therefore we are always confident,  knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:

(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)
                                                    2Cor 5:8 KJV
We are confident, I say, and willing  rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

2Cor 5:7 CEV But we live by faith, not by what we see.
2Cor 5:8 CEV  We should be cheerful, because we would rather leave these bodies and be at home with the Lord.

2Cor 5:7 YLT  for through faith we walk, not through sight--
2Cor 5:8 YLT we have courage, and are well pleased rather to be away from  the home of the body,
and to be at home with the Lord.
Here are Three Translations that tell us
                                       A. The human soul is save by Faith and Faith along.
                                       B. That the Soul and Spirit of man goes straightly to the presents of The Lord.

1Cor 15:7  KJV After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles.
1Cor 15:7  YLT afterwards he appeared to James, then to all the apostles.
                            Facts:
                                         1. Jesus Christ is seen after His resurrection By His earthly brother. Gal 1:19.
                                         2.  apostle == G652  apostolos ap-os'-tol-os From G649;
a delegate; specifically an ambassador of the Gospel; officially a
commissioner of Christ (“apostle”), (with miraculous powers): - apostle,
                                                            messenger, he that is sent.
                                         3. Basically  the meaning of Apostle is one sent forth by another.
In the Bible case they were sent forth by Christ.
                                         4. There was possible more than the twelve. The Twelve were the inner circle so to speak.
                                          Eph 4:11.

1Cor 15:8  KJV And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time.
1Cor 15:8  YLT And last of all--as to the untimely birth--he appeared also to me,
                      Fact:
                               1. Christ sent Saul to the Gentile. Even Changed his name to Paul after he came face to face
with His saviour Jesus Christ. Acts 9:4-7.
                               2. Paul kill Christians and persecuted Christians All in the name of God and Legally.
See religious can be wrong. Even the hard working ones.
                               3. He said he was born out of due time.
                                    Due time == [Grk. 1626] ektroma (ek'-tro-mah)
from a comparative of 1537 and titrosko (to wound); a miscarriage (abortion), i.e.
(by analogy) untimely birth:--born out of due time.

A better translation could be “Born before Time” ( prematurely birth ).
Paul states many times it is only by the Grace of God he is where he is.
                                    Eph 3:7
                               4. If it had not been for Paul meeting the Lord on the road he would still have been persecuting
Christian. Many a well-meaning religious person has hindered the work of the
                                    Lord Jesus Christ.
                               5. There has been preachers, teachers which have come to realize they only had a head
knowledge of Jesus Christ. Maybe they were only trying to live the life. You can not get there
by Living the life Your life will be empty. Rom 10:10. One belief has to be with theHeart.

The Heart in the bible denotes the whole being of a person. Body, soul, and spirit.

Rom 10:10 BBE For with the heart man has faith to get righteousness, and with
the  mouth he says that Jesus is Lord to get salvation.

Rev 20:15 KJV And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
Yes this is meant to scare one into Salvation because God said it. The most important decision
a Soul can make is where you are going to spend the after life? ( Your Life in the hereafter ).
Is there life after death?     YES. Mark 9:44-48; Luke 16:24.
Are You going to die? YES. Heb 9:27.
                            Die==[Grk. 599] apothnesko (ap-oth-nace'-ko)
from 575 and 2348; to die off (literally or figuratively):--be dead, death, die, lie a-dying,
                                        be slain.
Rom 6:4 KJV Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead
by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
                                                     Death==[Grk. 2288] thanatos (than'-at-os)

                                                  Dead==from an apparently primary nekus (a corpse);
dead (literally or figuratively; also as noun):--dead.
The same Words are used in John 11:39 For dead. The corpse was said to stink.
God's word seems to be very clear on the subject of death and resurrection.
Believe what God's word is saying to you Soul through the Spirit.
Some times when a subject gives one trouble defending it needs another look.

                                                        Some Rules.
                                                       1. Do they believe the Gospel. The death, burial, and resurrection of Christ?
                                                       2. Do they believe God does the saving of one soul or Man has to do a part?

                             Facts:
                                       1. Paul felt as many Christian feel, when they truly are saved and realize,
it is by the Grace of God, we as believer have to accepted Jesus Christ as doing
God’s finished work on our behalf. Eph 2:8-9.
Eph 2:8 YLT for by grace ye are having been saved, through faith,

1Cor 15:10  YLT and by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace that is towards me came not
in vain, but more abundantly than they all did I labour, yet not I,

                              Facts:
                                        1. The Apostle in this verse showing the Corinthians that this letter from beginning
to the end is not of Paul’s doing. It is only by the Grace of God.
The only way anyone can fittingly perform God’s work.
                                                A. First, a soul must be saved, make Christ both Lord and master, By God's Grace.

                                                C. Third, become Spirit filled. Acts 4:8; Eph 5:18: Philip 1:11.
Yes the believer is fill with the Holy Ghost at the moment of Salvation.
I am not talking about that moment, but letting the Spirit do it's work through you.
                                                      I. The Holy Spirit does an irreversible process and work of God in the work
                                                           of regeneration or new birth.
                                                      John 1:13; John 3:3-6; Titus 3:4-6; 1Peter 1:23; 2 Peter 1:4; 1 John 3:9.
II. The indwelling of the Holy Spirit in the church age is a permanent
                                                             dweller in the believer.

III. The filling of the Spirit ( Holy Ghost ) may be defined as a spiritual state
where the Holy Spirit is fulfilling all that He came to do in the heart and
                                                            life of the individual Believer.

A special touch from God is a dangerous thing, to stand in the way

                           Facts:
                                    1. It makes no difference Who preaches the Gospel, One just has to hear and believe
( is accepting surrendering the Christ.) Saying the only way I can get to Heaven with
my sins forgiven, is through Christ, Christ your work in the Gospel is all I am trusting.
Then once saved He will let you know.
Rom 8:16 KJV The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit,  that we are the children of God:
This chapter leaves no doubt what makes up the Gospel.
Christ died on a tree, was buried, and is risen, He lives today.
This is The Gospel of Salvation. The reason He died is for our sins.
                                    2. These Corinthians had hear the Gospel. What God does he does forever.
                                          Rom 10:14-15.
                                    3. The believers, banded together in order to pool their resources God has provided for them.
The church should send Spirit filled believers, starting at home, to Preach the Gospel of
Salvation to a lose dying world.
                                   4. Before any soul is sent to preach or teach the Gospel they should have a saving relationship
with The Lord Jesus Christ. John 1:12; John 3:16.
It has always been hard for me to understand how someone could tell me how to get to
Heaven if they did not know themselves. Heb 4:12. Rom 8:16;1John 4:13;1John 5:13.
I they Believe one can lose God's salvation of their soul. They then are preaching a
                                          Conditional Salvation.
\                                           Acts 13:39; Romans 2:12; Rom 3:19-20; Rom 3:28; And many more
When preaching or teaching one needs to be sure they are explaining the Gospel Of
Christ and not the Gospel of The Law or a social gospel.
                                   5. A Good Sales man has to believe in and sample the product. Again one must be Saved
and have a testimony of Jesus Christ in their life. 1Tim 3:1-16; 2 Tim 2:15.
They must be Spirit filled. The Word of God does the saving through the Holy Spirit
And the use of the Word of God. Heb 4:12.
Some Do great looking works but are lost. Php 1:13-20.
1Cor 15:12  KJV Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no
                              resurrection of the dead?
1Cor 15:13  KJV But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen:
1Cor 15:14  KJV And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.

1Cor 15:12  YLT And if Christ is preached, that out of the dead he hath risen, how say certain among you,
that there is no rising again of dead persons?
1Cor 15:13  YLT and if there be no rising again of dead persons, neither hath Christ risen;
1Cor 15:14  YLT and if Christ hath not risen, then void is our preaching, and void also your faith,
                            Facts:
                                      1. It makes no sense If God was powerful enough to raise Christ from the Dead,
if the believers which sleep in Christ do not rise. Christ rose to prove the dead in
Christ are to rise. Mat 28:6, Christ has victory over death. 1 Cor 15:55
                                      2. If the dead are not in the resurrection, then Christ is not raised. Christ bought the victory
                                          ( paid the price ) over death. 1 Cor 15:54-55; 1 John 5:4.
                                      3. All saved in Christ that sleep will be raised first and the living will also meet Christ in the
                                           air. Mat 24:27; Mat 24:43-44; Acts 1:11.
                                      4. If Christ is not risen then what Good ( use ) is it to preach or witness about Eternal Life.
Our Believing in Christ would be USELESS!!
                                      5. The total of our Faith depends on Christ being raised the Third day.
                                      6. One can not say Christ rose and the dead will not be raised.
                                      7. If anyone says Christ died like any man and is still in the Grave, how then can the dead
come back to eternal Life. The Lost ( the souls that have not accepted Christ ) will spend
Eternal Life in the Lake of Fire, tormented day and night forever. Cp Luke 16:28
This Fire never consumes. The believer’s in Christ now have Eternal Life to be spent
                                          with Jesus Christ forever.

1Cor 15:15  KJV Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that
he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not.
1Cor 15:16  KJV For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised:

1Cor 15:15  YLT and we also are found false witnesses of God, because we did testify of God that
                               He raised up the Christ, whom He did not raise if then dead persons do not rise;
1Cor 15:16  YLT for if dead persons do not rise, neither hath Christ risen,
                             Facts:
                                       1. If Christ or the dead be not resurrected then they are found false witnesses ( lied )
of God by Saying Christ has been raised when He wasn’t. Cp Rev 22:19.
                                       2. Saying God raised Christ and the dead when He was not. You cannot have one without
                                           the other.
                                       3. As the Word of God says, If Christ rose from the dead as forth told so will the dead be
                                           raised.
1Cor 15:17  KJV And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.
1Cor 15:18  KJV Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished.

1Cor 15:17  YLT and if Christ hath not risen, vain is your faith, ye are yet in your sins;
1Cor 15:18  YLT then, also, those having fallen asleep in Christ did perish;
                            Facts:
                                       1. The resurrection of Christ is of such importance, the forgiveness of
our sins, past, present, and future, depend on Christ being alive.
                                       2. Again as a rule to understanding God’s Word, the more times something is repeated
the more important it be comes. Preachers and Teachers used to presemt their Message
By repeading  Their Points. Christ used this medoth and so did Paul.
Resurrection is very essential to our faith. If Christ was raised from the grave we will
be raised to everlasting. If Christ lives after death the believer will live after death.
If we as believers can know that we have that eternal life now,
                                            How can we lose it?
1 John 5:13 YLT These things I did write to you who are believing in the name of the Son of God,
that ye may know that life ye have age-during,
and that ye may believe in the name of the Son of God.
The name of Jesus Christ tells His work and who He is.
                                       3. If God did not raise Jesus Christ then He does not have the power to raise them that
have fallen a sleep ( died ) in Christ.

1Cor 15:19  KJV If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.
1Cor 15:19  YLT if in this life we have hope in Christ only, of all men we are most to be pitied
                            Facts:
                                       1. Without God raising Christ from the dead and no after life, one is only preaching a
social gospel. A social gospel can change no one. Christ dwelling in the believer,
because Christ lives is the only way one can change is accepting Christ.
                                         2 Cor 5:17;Gal 6:15; Dwells in the believer.1 Cor 3:16; 2 Cor 6:16; Eph 3:17;
                                             2 Tim 1:14; 1 John 4:12-16; 2 John 1:2.
                                       2.  If our hope is only a way of life here in this world, we are in back shape.
We would have denied everything for Christ and in return only die forever.
                                           D-I-E-D – D-E-A-D.
No reward or Eternal life ( life after death ). There would not be any Heaven for the
believer, the faithful, and Hell for the lost. 1 Thess 4:13-18.
Christ is alive and coming back for the saints. John 14:2; Cp Rev 21:1-5.
3 It would be terrible if Christ was in soul sleep or died forever.
Thank God Jesus came back from the Grave. He lives. He lives at the right hand of
the Father. He pleads For the ones that have accepted Him (Christ) as their saviour.

1Cor 15:20  KJV But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.
1Cor 15:20  YLT And now, Christ hath risen out of the dead--the first-fruits of those sleeping he became,
                             Facts:
                                       1. Sometimes it is easier to explain a topic in the negative or in the reverse, Paul uses
this approach very frequently in his letters. That is missing in lots of the preaching
and bible studies of today. Sometime the hearers need to hear the subject explained
in more than just on pass. There are more than one way to explain a subject and come
to the same conclusion. Watch the ads in the media, they repeat subjects over and over.
Jesus used parables over and over. He used context of His area of discussion over and
over, explaining it in another way. There by find a common understanding. Mat 19:13-14.
                                      2. Paul turns from the negative to now the positive. The apostle uses this way of showing
what couldn’t be true to prove the truth.
                                       3. Christ is now risen. Notice Paul use of the words NOW Risen.
                                            Both translations translate it Now.

The Reality Of The Resurrection   An elderly woman made her living selling artificial fruit. One day a customer

complained the fruit she sold was not realistic enough. She pointed to an apple, saying it was too red, too round, and too big to be a real apple.
At that point the artificial fruit lady picked up the apple and proceeded to eat it.
Jesus is the real McCoy. He really did rise from the grave. He is alive. He is listening to our prayers. He is
always open for business when that business deals with the human heart in need of a shepherd's guidance and love.
George Bernard Shaw, the famous playwright, was handed a newly written play by a fledgling playwright. Shaw
was asked to give the young man a criticism of his work a few days later. "How do you like it?" asked the author.
"I fell asleep reading it," said Shaw. "Sleep is my comment on your work."

No one fell asleep or yawned that night when the Prince of Peace, the Prince of Power and the Lord of Love
appeared in their midst. Christianity is real. Christianity is alive. Christianity is anything but boring. Let us all
wake up and smell the roses. Let us resolve to live our lives as if Jesus were a guest in our homes, workplaces
and businesses. The truth is that the Lord is here, there, and everywhere. He is alive. His is our Risen Lord to
whom we offer our discipleship with love.

The song goes, "They'll know we are Christians by our love." Let us be about our Father's business as we serve
him with joy. Let us show and tell others the good news of the gospel.

derived from the Saxon helan, to cover; hence the covered or the invisible place. In Scripture there are three
words so rendered:

(1.) Sheol, occurring in the Old Testament sixty-five times. This word Sheol is derived from a root-word meaning
"to ask," "demand;" hence insatiableness (Prov. 30:15, 16). It is rendered "grave" thirty-one times (Gen. 37:35;
42:38; 44:29, 31; 1 Sam. 2:6, etc.). The Revisers have retained this rendering in the historical books with the
original word in the margin, while in the poetical books they have reversed this rule.

In thirty-one cases in the Authorized Version this word is rendered "hell," the place of disembodied spirits. The
inhabitants of Sheol are "the congregation of the dead" (Prov. 21:16). It is (a) the abode of the wicked
 (Num. 16:33; Job 24:19; Ps. 9:17; 31:17, etc.); (b) of the good (Ps. 16:10; 30:3; 49:15; 86:13, etc.).

Sheol is described as deep (Job 11:8), dark (10:21, 22), with bars (17:16). The dead "go down" to it
 (Num. 16:30, 33; Ezek. 31:15-17).

(2.) The Greek word Hades of the New Testament has the same scope of signification as Sheol of the Old
Testament. It is a prison (1 Pet. 3:19), with gates and bars and locks (Matt. 16:18; Rev. 1:18), and it is downward
 (Matt. 11:23; Luke 10:15).

The righteous and the wicked are separated. The blessed dead are in that part of Hades called paradise
(Luke 23:43). They are also said to be in Abraham's bosom (Luke 16:22).

(3.) Gehenna, in most of its occurrences in the Greek New Testament, designates the place of the lost
(Matt 23:33). The fearful nature of their condition there is described in various figurative expressions
  (Matt. 8:12; 13:42; 22:13; 25:30; Luke 16:24, etc.). (See HINNOM.)

Mat 25:46;

Hell hel (see SHEOL; HADES; GEHENNA):

1. The Word in the King James Version:

The English word, from a Teutonic root meaning "to hide" or "cover," had originally the significance of the
world of the dead generally, and in this sense is used by Chaucer, Spenser, etc., and in the Creed
("He descended into hell"); compare the English Revised Version Preface. Now the word has come to mean
almost exclusively the place of punishment of the lost or finally impenitent; the place of torment of the wicked. In
the King James Version of the Scriptures, it is the rendering adopted in many places in the Old Testament for the
Hebrew word she'ol (in 31 out of 65 occurrences of that word it is so translated), and in all places, save one
(1Cor 15:55) in the New Testament, for the Greek word Hades (this word occurs 11 times; in 10 of these it is
translated "hell"; 1Cor 15:55 reads "grave," with "hell" in the margin). In these cases the word has its older general meaning, though in Luke 16:23 (parable of Rich Man and Lazarus) it is specially connected with a place
of "torment," in contrast with the "Abraham's bosom" to which Lazarus is taken (Luke 16:22).

2. The Word in the Revised Version:

In the above cases the Revised Version (British and American) has introduced changes, replacing "hell" by
"Sheol" in the passages in the Old Testament (the English Revised Version retains "hell" in Isa 14:9, Isa 14:15;
the American Standard Revised Version makes no exception), and by "Hades" in the passages in the New
Testament (see under these words).

3. Gehenna:

Besides the above uses, and more in accordance with the modern meaning, the word "hell" is used in the New
Testament in the King James Version as the equivalent of Gehenna (12 t; Mat 5:22, Mat 5:29; Mat 10:28, etc.).
the Revised Version (British and American) in these cases puts "Gehenna" in the margin. Originally the Valley
of Hinnom, near Jerusalem, Gehenna became among the Jews the synonym for the place of torment in the future
life (the "Gehenna of fire," Mat 5:22, etc.; see GEHENNA).

4. Tartarus:

In yet one other passage in the New Testament (2Peter 2:4), "to cast down to hell" is used
(the King James Version and the Revised Version (British and American)) to represent the Greek tartaroo,
("to send into Tartarus"). Here it stands for the place of punishment of the fallen angels: "spared not angels
when they sinned, but cast them down to hell, and committed them to pits (or chains) of darkness"
(compare Jude 1:6; but also Mat 25:41). Similar ideas are found in certain of the Jewish apocalyptic books
(Book of Enoch, Book of Jubilees, Apocrypha Baruch, with apparent reference to Gen 6:1-4; compare
ESCHATOLOGY OF THE OLD TESTAMENT).

On theological aspect, see PUNISHMENT, EVERLASTING. For literature, see references in above-named arts.,
and compare article "Hell" by Dr. D. S. Salmond in HDB.
