Notes on 1 Peter 3:20 and Water Baptism

Rom 4:5 KJV  But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

1 Peter 3:20 NIV who disobeyed long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark

was being built. In it only a few people, eight in all, were saved through water,
21 and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also--not the removal of dirt from the
body but the pledge of a good conscience toward God It saves you by the resurrection
                       of Jesus Christ,
22 who has gone into heaven and is at God's right hand--with angels, authorities and powers in
                     submission to him.
(1 Peter 3:21) ISV Baptism, which is symbolized by that water,
now saves you also, not by removing dirt from the body,
but by asking God for a clear conscience based on the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
1 Peter 3:20 KJV Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the
days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved
                     by water.
21 ¶ The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us
(not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward
God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
22 Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and
powers being made subject unto him.
Eight Souls were Saved By Water. They were, the Bible (God's Holy Word) says it.
The world was so sinful. God carried these eight soul plus creation out of a sinful world in an Ark that
floated on the water. If one Notices In these verses that the water had not any saving powers what so ever.
The Ark which the Lord provided and also shut the door. In the water all died. If they
Did not accept God’s way of salvation they died in the flood. Water Kills. You will drown
If the water is over you head with no way to breath. The ark Saved Heb 11:7
Heb 11:7 NIV
7  By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family.
By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that comes by faith.
The Water came after Noah was saved. Noah’s Faith and reverence is the reason he built the Ark
Before the flood. God provided the way and oversaw it by closing (sealing the door).
This being true then, how did the water save Noah and his family?
It demonstrated his salvation, proved his salvation, attested his salvation.
The like figure whereunto baptism doth also now save us.
If there is a similarity between that and baptism, then we must put
On Christ first and be sealed for eternality by the Holy Spirit before baptism.
The believer shows their salvation in the demonstration of baptism. Death, burial, and resurrection.
Read the sentence leaving this out, the red text.  What is put in a sentence in parenthesis read leaving out.
Parenthesis == An explanatory word or clause inserted in a sentence,
which is grammatically complete without it: indicated by the marks ( )
not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God

Water symbolizes baptism. There is a double figure here.

The flood symbolizes baptism, and baptism symbolizes salvation.

The flood was a figure of baptism in that in both instances the water that spoke of judgment (in the flood

the death of the wicked, in baptism the death of Christ and the believer) is the water that saves.
Baptism is a symbol of salvation in that it depicts Christ's death, burial and resurrection and
our identification with him in these experiences

Romans 6:4 NIV

We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that,
just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life

Roman 6:4 KJV Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as

Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father,
even so we also should walk in newness of life
(Romans 6:4)Bible in Basic English
We have been placed with him among the dead through baptism into death:
so that as Christ came again from the dead by the glory of the Father,
we, in the same way, might be living in new life.

The when and how of the Christian's death to sin.
In New Testament times baptism so closely followed conversion ( Salvation) that the two were considered
part of one event (see Acts 2:38 ).
So although baptism is not a means by which we enter into a vital faith relationship with Jesus Christ,
it is closely associated with faith.

It is Not to be taken Lightly. We Are still talking about Water Baptism.

Baptism depicts graphically what happens as a result of the Christian's union with Christ,

which comes with faith--through faith we are united with Christ,
just as through our natural birth we are united with Adam. As we fell into sin and we became subject to death in father Adam,
so we now have died and been raised again with Christ--which baptism symbolizes.
Now saves you also. In reality, believers are saved by what baptism symbolizes--

                                  Christ's death and resurrection.

The symbol and the reality are so closely related that the symbol is sometimes used to refer to the reality.

God's Hand Closed the Door to the Ark.

Gen 7:16 And they that went in, went in male and female of all flesh,

as God had commanded him: and the LORD shut him in.
This is Jesus Before he came in the flesh (a human body.) Jesus before He came In the Flesh.
If you wanted say it in simple words, God Did the Saving.   YHWH (Jehovah)
Pledge of a good conscience toward God.

The act of baptism is a commitment on the part of the believer in all good conscience to make sure that what baptism

symbolizes will become a reality in his life.
Saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ. In the final analysis people are saved not by any ritual,
but by the supernatural power of the resurrection.
It seems the Resurrection of Jesus Christ Gets in they way of man doing anything to save his soul.
God saves to the uttermost in Christ Jesus.
God is Majestic. God is Creator. God is Almighty. God Is Wonderful. God is a Jealous God.
God is Spelled Good With O Me Left Out.

The Bible is grammatically Correct. Some of the Writers that God used were not Scholars. Some were Fisherman.

Lord,
       Everyday I awaken is another
day to see Your goodness in
this earth, and I have the choice
to praise You in the valley as well
       as on the mountain-top!
Amen!

Jesus saves, All one has to do is trust in God's finished work.

Please Pray for our work. Or make any comment Thanks.
