Notes on Acts 11:19-24
Introduction: There is
nothing extraordinarily strange by the statement to cleave to the Lord.Every
Born
again believer is to draw nearer to
the Lord because their soul has been bought with a price. The cost
is the
strips, death, burial, and resurrection
of the Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Cor 15:1-15.
Once A believer makes
Jesus Lord and Master by accepting Him as the sacrifice ( price to redeem,
buy,
our soul ).
As for the translation
offered here, they are only translations( for poltical, montary gains,
to praise God ) by Man. They are still God’s word. The original was
inspired of God. 2 Tim 3:16.
No doubt as in commentaries the Authors, people performing the work, where
lead and guided by the Holy Spirit. But still they are only
translations of the Word of God. The Word
of God is the same no matter what the translation.
Guidelines must be in Place for
rightly dividing the word of God.
There are times when it seems
the writers or speakers are trying to make the bible say things that it
does not say. When in reality the student should be looking at all
of the material God has given us for our study. When a preacher or
teacher teaches they are presenting the word of God as A translation, or
commentary, or other works of Christian ministries. I guess for lack of
a better way of saying this. If you listen to a preacher preach don’t put
down translations or other Christian reference material.
Webster Bible
Noah Webster: America's first grammarian and
founding father of American education.
In 1828 Noah Webster published
the 'American Dictionary of the English Language'. This dictionary
demonstrates the Christian values which were found in America's educational
and scholarly systems. It is from
this early dictionary that we have today’s
popular 'Webster Dictionary'.
In 1833 Noah Webster, who had
mastered 20 languages including Hebrew and Greek, published the King James
Authorized Version 'with amendments to the
language'.
In stating his reasons for producing
this version of the Bible, Webster said:
"In the present version,
the language is, in general, correct and perspicuous; ... in many passages
uniting
sublimity with beautiful simplicity.
In my view, the general style of the version ought not to be altered.
But, in the lapse of two or three centuries, changes have taken place,
which, in particular passages, impair the beauty; in others, obscure the
sense, of the original languages.
... they do not present to the
reader the Word of God. ... My principal aim is to remedy this
evil. "
It was with cautious reverence
that Webster corrected misused grammar, removed offensive terms and expressions,
and substituted commonly understood words for words that had fallen into
disuse, or no longer carried the same meaning.
In 1834, the year
after completing the Webster Bible, Noah Webster wrote a companion piece
titled 'Value of
the Bible and Excellence of the Christian
Religion - For the Use of Families and Schools'.
Webster, who was considered 'The schoolmaster
to a nation' and produced the earliest spellers and textbooks for
America's school children, believed Christian
religious values and American public education to be inseparable.
He believed the Webster Bible to be 'the most
important enterprise' of his life, and referred to the Bible as:
"... the chief moral cause of all that
is good, and the best corrector of all that is evil, in human society;
the best book for regulating the temporal
concerns of men, and the only book that can serve as an infallible guide
to future felicity. "
Acts 11:19-24 Webster Bible

Do we have this in our day? Yes. Some say you cannot use this Translation
(rendition)
because it is not the word of God. Romans
8:28.
The world doesn’t need another translation or book on God. The world needs
a Saviour,
better yet a risen saviour. The Holy Spirit has given the believer so many
tools it would
be a sin to not use them when it could lead that person to the risen saviour.
The Gold is to lead souls to Jesus Christ by telling the Gospel. Keep it
simple.
3. What where they preaching? The Gospel. ( the Truth -- Facts.)
Webster Bible

1 John 4:1
5. The church in Antioch was predominantly Gentile. It was
from this church, and not the Jerusalem
church, that the first foreign missionaries ( Acts
13:1–3) went forth. Perhaps the
narrow-mindedness of the Judaizers inhibited the Jerusalem believers from
taking the lead in
missionary advance.

life.
1 John 5:10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness
in himself:
he that believeth not God, hath made him a liar,
because he hath not believed the testimony that God gave of his Son.
11 And this is the testimony, that God hath given to us eternal life:
and this life is in his Son.
12 He that hath the Son, hath life; and he that hath not the Son
of God, hath not life.
13 These things have I written to you that believe on the name of
the
Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life,
and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
Oh if we just had all of the Faith the Apostles
had.
All you have to do is just believe Jesus died
to save a dying world. He is risen today.
Jesus lives at the right hand of God the Father.

Acts 11:19-24 CEV
19
Some of the Lord’s followers had been scattered because of the
terrible trouble that started when Stephen was killed.
They went as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus, and Antioch,
but they told the message only to the Jews.
20 Some of the followers from
Cyprus and Cyrene went to Antioch
and started telling Gentiles the good news about the Lord Jesus.
21 The Lord’s power was with
them, and many people turned to the
Lord and put their faith in him.
22 News of what was happening
reached the church in Jerusalem.
Then they sent Barnabas to Antioch.
23 When Barnabas got there and
saw what God had been kind
enough to do for them, he was very glad. So he begged
them to remain faithful to the Lord with all their hearts.
24 Barnabas was a good man of
great faith, and he was filled with the
Holy Spirit. Many more people turned to the Lord.

Acts 11:19-24 NLT
Acts11:19 Meanwhile, the believers who had fled from
Jerusalem during the persecution after
Stephen’s death traveled as far as Phoenicia,
Cyprus, and Antioch of Syria. They preached
the Good News, but only to Jews.
20 However, some of the believers who went to
Antioch from Cyprus and Cyrene began
preaching to Gentiles about the Lord Jesus.
21 The power of the Lord was upon them, and
large numbers of these Gentiles believed
and turned to the Lord.
22 When the church at Jerusalem heard what
had happened, they sent Barnabas to Antioch.
23 When he arrived and saw this proof of God’s
favor, he was filled with joy, and he encouraged
the believers to stay true to the Lord.
24 Barnabas was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit
and strong in faith. And large numbers of people
were brought to the Lord.
