Notes on Acts 9:1-22

Acts 9:1-22

Paul heart might have been right but he was trying to do it man's way.

God does the saving through the Finished work of Jesus Christ His Son.

Each believer was given the Commission personally.

The disciples first, then they were to pass it on to other believer.

Mat 28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying,
All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and,
lo, I am with you alway,  even unto the end of the world. Amen.

It was given to the believers.
Believers were to lead people to Christ. Paul had already had his personal relation with Jesus Christ.
He at once knew who he had meet.

Acts 9:1-22

In v 9 he calls him Lord

v10. Lord, wilt thou have me to do?

v11. Ananias the Lord said arise go into the street.

Acts 9:15 But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me,

to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:

16 For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name's sake.
17 And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said,
Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest,
hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost.
18 And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith,
and arose, and was baptized.  ( again what kind of Baptism) What kind of immersion

v 15 The Lord said he is a chosen vessel. To bear my name ( the Gospel. ) The names in

the Bible have meaning this is why Saul's name was changed to Paul.
Remember no one can be a chosen vessel unless they have given their heart to Jesus.
Paul was saved before he was baptized.
v 16 Who will shew Paul great things.
v 17 Tells what Ananias was to do. In this verse the believers call him Brother Saul.
         1. Put his hands on him.
         2. The Lord had sent Ananias. He had seen this in a vision.
         3. So Paul might receive sight.
         4. Paul needed the power of Holy Spirit. Paul was to be filled (Some call it the Baptism of H. S.)
             with the  Holy Ghost.
v 18 Tells what happen,
      1. Paul received his sight before he was Baptized.
      2. Paul received the Holy Spirit or was Baptized in the Holy Spirit.
Hence Paul’s baptism could only symbolically represent that which had been already really accomplished.
