Notes on John 17:6-12,20
Introduction: Numerous times as one reads the
passages in God’s living word one misses the deepness that
God explains in so few words of His doctrine. Of course Jesus is
praying for his disciples.
Later in verse twenty Christ states He
is also praying for all that will be saved. He states the Father has given
Him them to keep. Plain words, Jesus while He was in this world He kept
them safe.
As He goes to His rightful place, with God the
Father's right hand, Christ sends the Comforter.
John
14:16; John 14:26; John 15:26; John 16:7
who Seals the believer.
2 Cor
1:22; Eph 1:13; Eph 4:30.
God the Father, God The Son, God the Holy Ghost all
have a part in the Salvation of your soul, the Godhead.
The use of translations and commentaries
are Just a few of the countless ways the Holy Spirit can work through
each one of His believers. As the Hebrews had the wisdom of the
man of God in their past so do we in this modern age. The beauty of the
old Translation and commentaries is the comments still apply today.
Our purpose is not to spoon feed anyone
or cause offense to anyone. Through the Holy Spirit and God’s
leading, I strive to have you find the answers on your own. There
are many people as called So called Christian Leaders which are wolves
in sheep clothing. The bible is simple to understand.
The clergy have wanted people to think
it was beyond their understanding. Not true, each believer has the
Holy Spirit to lead and open their understanding. I just hope
you enjoy the Joy of the Salvation Jesus bought
for you.
I am not stressing or suggesting one Translation above or over
any other. They had been translated by men.

2 Tim 3:15 And that from
the time when you were a child, you have had knowledge of the holy Writings,
which are
able to make you wise to salvation, through faith in Christ Jesus.
16 Every holy Writing which comes from God is of profit for teaching,
for training, for guiding, for education in righteousness:
17 So that the man of God may be complete, trained and made ready
for every good work.
2 Peter 1:20 Being conscious
in the first place that no man by himself may give a special sense to the
words of the prophets.
History of the 1949/1964 Bible In
Basic English
The Bible In Basic English was printed in 1965 by Cambridge Press
in England. Published without any copyright notice and distributed in America,
this work fell immediately and irretrievably into the Public Domain in
the United States according to the UCC convention of that time.
The form in which the Bible is given here is not simply another example
of the Bible story put into present-day English. The language used is Basic
English.
Basic English, produced by Mr. C. K. Ogden of the Orthological Institute,
is a simple form of the English language
which, with 850 words, is able to give the sense of anything
which may be said in English. By the addition of
50 Special Bible words and the
use of 100 words listed as giving most help in the reading of English
verse,
this number has been increased to 1000
for the purpose of putting the Bible into Basic.
Working with the Orthological Institute, a Committee under the direction
of Professor S. H. Hooke, Professor Emeritus of Old Testament Studies in
the University of London, has been responsible for a new English form of
the Bible made from the Hebrew and the Greek.
In this undertaking, the latest ideas and discoveries in connection
with the work of putting the Bible into other
languages were taken into account, and when the Basic form was complete
it was gone over in detail by a
Committee formed by the Syndics of the Cambridge University Press.
The Basic Bible, which in this way was watched over by two separate
groups of experts through its different stages,
is designed to be used wherever the English language has taken root.
Frequently, the narrow limits of the word-list make it hard to keep
the Basic completely parallel with the Hebrew and the Greek; but great
trouble has been taken with every verse and every line to make certain
that there are no errors of sense and no loose wording. It is only natural
that, from time to time, some of the more delicate shades of
sense have not been covered; on the other hand, it is well to keep
in mind that in the Authorized Version the power and music of the language
sometimes take so much of the reader's attention that these more delicate
shades are
overlooked.
In fact, the Basic expert is forced, because of the limited material
with which he is working, to give special care to the sense of the words
before him. There is no question of the Basic work taking the place of
the Authorized Version or coming into competition with it; but it may be
said of this New English Bible that it is in a marked degree straightforward
and simple and that these qualities give it an independent value.

had knowledge through the words of the Lord,
and which was made certain to us by those to whom his words came;
Rom 8:38 For I am certain that not death, or life, or angels, or

Here is Christ before we are even born praying making
intercession for us to God the Father. This prayer is for all that will
be saved, the ones which belong to Christ. Christ was and is today pleading
with the Father for our soul. How can we go wrong if one just trust Jesus
with our soul.
Jesus died so we might go to heaven to share in His
glory. He saves to the uttermost.
Will you give your heart and soul to Jesus. He will
not come in unless you invite Him into your heart, soul, and life.
Make Jesus Lord and Master of your life. Repent change your way
of thinking.
What does it profit, my brethren,
if a man says he has faith but has not works?
Can his faith save him?
James 2:14 RSV
Good works are not a means of salvation because we are saved by grace
through faith. But, our good works are
an evidence of salvation; and if we do all the good we can, to all
the people we can, at any time we can, by any means we can, we will hear
"well done" at the judgment bar of God.
~ Billy Graham
With Jesus intercession for us how can we not have eternal Life?
John 17:6 KJV I
have manifested thy name unto the men which
thou gavest me out of the world:
thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and
they have kept thy word.
7 Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast
given me are of thee.
8 For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me;
and they have received them, and have known surely that I
came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst
send me.
9 I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which
thou hast given me; for they are thine.
10 And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am
glorified in them.
11 And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the
world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep
through thine own name those whom thou hast given me,
that they may be one, as we are.
12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name:
those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is
lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be
fulfilled.
John 17:20 Neither
pray I for these alone, but for them also which
shall believe on me through their word;

6 You have given me some followers from this world,
and I have shown them what you are like. They were yours,
but you gave them to me, and they have obeyed you.
7 They know that you gave me everything I have.
8 I told my followers what you told me, and they accepted it.
They know that I came from you, and they believe that you
are the one who sent me.
9 I am praying for them, but not for those who belong to this
world. My followers belong to you, and I am praying for

10 All that I have is yours, and all that you have is mine, and
they will bring glory to me.
11 Holy Father, I am no longer in the world. I am coming to you,

the power of the name that you have given me. Then they will
be one with each other, just as you and I are one.
