Notes on Mat 7:16-19

Introduction: To those that advocate that a believers soul is insecure (can lose their salvation) use
these verse to try and prove that this is a fact. If one carefully looks at how these verse are written
you Can see that God is the one doing the saving of man’s soul. These verse are the recorded words
of Jesus Christ. Within theses words Jesus is telling that there are people that are not what the seem
to be. There are many that confess Jesus but are still clinging to their works. We are not indorsing
any translation, that is not the issue. The issue is are you saved? If so have you ever told anyone about
Jesus Salvation of your soul?

Mat 7:15 KJV  Beware of false prophets,   which come to you in sheep's clothing,
but inwardly they Are ravening wolves.
16 Ye shall know them by their fruits.
Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit;  but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit,  neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

                                         Mat 7:16-25 NIV
15 "Watch out for false prophets.
They come to you in sheep's clothing,  but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.
16 By their fruit you will recognize them.
Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?
17 Likewise every good tree bears good fruit,  but a bad tree bears bad fruit.
18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit.
19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
20 Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.
21 "Not everyone who says to me, `Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven,
but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me on that day, `Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy
in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?'
23 Then I will tell them plainly, `I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'
24 "Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts
them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.
25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall,
because it had its foundation on the rock.

                                    May 7:15-27 CEV
15 Watch out for false prophets! They dress up like sheep,
but inside they are wolves who have come to attack you

16 You can tell what they are by what they do. No one picks grapes or figs from thornbushes.
17 A good tree produces good fruit, and a bad tree produces bad fruit.
18 A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot produce good fruit.
19 Every tree that produces bad fruit will be chopped down and burned.
20 You can tell who the false prophets are by their deeds.
                               A Warning
21 Not everyone who calls me their Lord will get into the kingdom of heaven.
Only the ones who obey my Father in heaven will get in.
22 On the day of judgment many will call me their Lord. They will say, “We preached in your name,
and in your name we forced out demons and worked many miracles.”
23 But I will tell them, “I will have nothing to do with you! Get out of my sight, you evil people!”
24 Anyone who hears and obeys these teachings of mine is like a wise person who built a house on solid rock.
25 Rain poured down, rivers flooded, and winds beat against that house.
But it did not fall, because it was built on solid rock.

                                         Mat 7:15-26 NLB
                                  The Tree and Its Fruit

15 “Beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep,  but are really wolves that will tear you apart.
16 You can detect them by the way they act, just as you can identify a tree by its fruit.
You don’t pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles.
17 A healthy tree produces good fruit, and an unhealthy tree produces  bad fruit.
18 A good tree can’t produce bad fruit, and a bad tree can’t produce good fruit.
19 So every tree that does not produce good fruit is chopped down and thrown into the fire.
20 Yes, the way to identify a tree or a person is by the kind of fruit that is produced.

                         True Disciples

21 “Not all people who sound religious are really godly. They may refer to me as ‘Lord,’
but they still won’t enter the Kingdom of Heaven. The decisive issue is whether they obey my Father in heaven.
22 On judgment day many will tell me, ‘Lord, Lord, we prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name
and performed many miracles in your name.’
23 But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Go away; the things you did were unauthorized.’

Building on a Solid Foundation

24 “Anyone who listens to my teaching and obeys me is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock.
25 Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house,
it won’t collapse, because it is built on rock.

I don’t intend to offend anyone. If I present the word of God that usually happens. Heb 4:12 is the
only answer I can give. Many a teacher, prophets, and Preachers can look at first, Heaven sent.
There are always conferences that many workers attend. The speakers of these are usually very dynamic.
The organizers of these function have been on their knees in prayer all resulting in preacher, prophets, and
teachers being saved.  Some of theses people are very good people they were just going through the motions.

The believers are to always discern, try the spirits.
                             1 John 4:1-4 NIV
1 Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God,
because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
2 This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ
has come in the flesh is from God,
3 but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God.
This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.
4 You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them,  because the one who is in you is greater
than the one who is in the world.

It is great that the believer has over come. There is a difference in knowing that Jesus Christ was the God-man
came into the world to save that which is lost. Mat 18:11; Luke 15:6; Luke 19:10.
That belief has to be with the heart. The meaning of heart in God’s Word is one whole being , body, spirit, soul.
In other words one has to turn everything over to Jesus. 1 John 2:1.
Today there is Television, radio, and printed material as a result many express their ideas not bible doctrine.
Several claim healing. It is dangerous to take these peoples word. The believers are to ask questions (contend for the faith) anyone that gets upset at the questions being asked may not know Jesus Christ personally. Acts 11:2; Jude 1:3.
Even the Michael the archangel had to contend with the devil. Jude 1:9; Cp Dan 10:13.
How much more should the believers be aware?

Christ says that one can know them both the False and True believers by their fruits.
The First Fruit is love because God is love. The believers are branches of the vine. Therefore the believer
is begotten of the Father.
                    1 John 4:7-10 NIV
7 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God.
Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.
8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
9 This is how God showed his love among us:
He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.
10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.

God’s word List the Fruits of the Spirit. When a soul makes Jesus Lord and master of their life
The rest of the world begins to see a change.
                              Gal 5:22-25 NIV
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23 gentleness and self-control.  Against such things there is no law.
24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires.
25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.
26 Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.

We are warned that there are many antichrists. 1 John 2:18; 1 John 2:22; 1 John 4:3; 2 John 1:7.
                            2 John 1:6-11 NIV
6 And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands.
As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love.

7 Many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world.
Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist.
8 Watch out that you do not lose what you have worked for but that you may be rewarded fully.
9 Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in
the teaching has both the Father and the Son
10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not take him into your house or welcome him.
11 Anyone who welcomes him shares in his wicked work.

I owned a beautiful white 85 percent Timber wolf name Shadow. Their nature is to make packs. As they get older
the owner and their family become their pack. These wolves have a nature impulse to hunt. Wolves become
very loyal pets. The biggest character trait is if they are too run loose the may kill the neighbors Cat or small dog.
They will hunt. This part never leaves them. One can become very attacked to theses wolves.

The owner must always have their nature in mind. Another trait I have noticed is they always have to be in control. They when meeting another animal they will play but they always want to be on top.
Christ like using illustrations that his listeners understood and could relate to.
A tree is only going to produce one kind of fruit good or bad. The Grape vine was giving very tender care in its life.
The person that tended to the vine would prune, work the ground, and see that the grapes were picked at the proper time.  This is true with other fruit trees. With proper care these vines did not go bad. The idea here is that the tree
has always produced  bad fruit. It can never change. If you are a farmer every piece of land is important. The only
way for the farmer to produce the most per acre is to cut the bad fruit tree down and plant a good one in its place. Space is very important to the farmer.
I was born in Fulton, KY. It has been forty years since I had been back there. Nov 2000 my wife made an on
the spare of the moment trip.  Where the old house my parents and I lived in, the pond out back, and old four room
two story school building were all gone. They did this for more acres to plant and raise crops. Land, there is only so much of land in the world. There will never be any more in this part or the world. Island do grow but Kentucky is
in the middle of the USA.

Many false prophets ( forth tellers -  proclaimers ) Do a good job of talking the talk. But most don’t walk the walk.
Is there love in their hearts for others people. It bothers me that so many pastors will not visit in the homes of the flock they were given by Jesus. That flock belongs to Jesus. John 10:29.
Many a false prophet begins to think that they have done all of the building of the church. In reality God just used them and allowed them to experience the joy. Most people don’t understand that God may want them to move on
 the another work later. This is when a person has to be a man of God. They have to let God lead. 1 Cor 3:5-10;
Luke 9:48; Luke 16:10.
One must first has a sound foundation Jesus Christ.
Mat 16:18 KJV And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter,
                                                                                           and upon this rock I will build my church;
and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
That rock the ( foundation ) is so strong that God’s plan left man out of the Salvation of man’s soul.
The Rock saved and gives eternal life now and Forever.

Do you have the foundation?

Roman  15:20 KJV Yea, so have I strived to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named,
lest I should build upon another man's foundation:
1 Cor 3:10 KJV According to the grace of God which is given unto me,
as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon.
But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.
1 Cor 3:11  For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

Make sure of your foundation is it Jesus Christ?
