Notes
on Romans 11:21-24
Introduction:
Once more as with everything in God’s word, it has to be used in context
for an improved understanding. To better get this passages into its suitable
place one needs to look at the entire chapter eleven
of Romans. Even better go back
and read Chapter ten of Romans. Paul as well as Jesus spoke of the negative
to
show the truth in a positive
light. This forms a image in the reader or hearer’s mind. Instruction by
asking
question is as effective as on
the job training.
When one finds a teacher that
has experienced what they are teaching they can teach with authority. Teaching
with authority is knowing what you are teaching and letting the Spirit
lead.
Do you recognize Jesus or do
you know Christ Jesus?
Humans starting
back in the garden of Eden are weighed down with this thing of letting
suspicion crept into their understanding even though the truth is completely
open to them.
Jesus
used parables so the nonbelievers would not comprehend. Mat
13:10-14.
This is the ones that were involved
in the religion of self ( self righteousness ).
Pharisees, Sadducees,
Scribes, and Priest of Jesus time.
Before
we can understand we must know whom Paul is writing and who he is referring.
The
KJV is a great piece of prose. Not only is the original a Great piece of
Literature, it is God’s Holy Word. The original was in Hebrew, Aramaic,
and Greek. King James was the Head of the Church of England. Men
were chosen to standardize the Bible. For years difference church leaders
and rulers had the word of God translated. King James wanted to have an
authorized version. Who’s version was it? God’s version or King James Version?
Who authorized the translation of God’s word? King James. It was the approved
version.
I have The
Holy Bible Old And New Testaments here in front of me. I just looked in
the first few pages.
“Translated out of the
original tongues and with former translations diligently compared and revised.”
Collins Publishers
New York and Cleveland. I have learn anytime I start a new book,
I read the preface, introduction, about the author and anything else that
is contained inside ( between ) or on the cover of the book. Books have
information on how to read them, why they were written. Lots of Books have
footnotes or references.
Through the years I have been a new car mechanic, service manger, and managed
an Auto parts store. Over half of the complaints on new cars or pick-ups
were from failure to read the owners manual. We had three words that saved
a lot of problems. Verify the complaint.
I sold a young man a transmission
filter change kit. He brought it back, said the pan gasket was incorrect.
I didn't argue. The Man was having a problem making it fit or why else
would he be bringing it back. I verified the complaint. The
Gasket had four sides and if you turn it over it has four more on the other
sides. That equals eight sides. Only one way was right. The young man was
very surprised and happy. He thanked me for the trouble. Over the years
I sold him many an auto part.
Gods word
in the original language is full of Love along with Love comes Chastisement
for God’s Children
Heb 12:5-11.
The opposite to love is judgment with punishment.
If God
is to save the lost souls and reward the faithful ( the ones that accept
Christ as saviour ), He has to
judge and punish the wicked (
the ones that have not accepted the finished work of Christ. )
Since there is a place prepared for the just, then God to be righteous
and just has to have a place prepared
for the wicked.
Who was the everlasting fire
originally prepared for?
Mat 25:41 BBE Then will he say to those on the left,
Go from me, you cursed ones, into the eternal fire which is ready
for the Evil One
and his angels:
God the Father
through his son Christ Jesus provided a way for the lost of the world to
escape God’s
judgments in the lake of Fire
( Hell ).
In the English
language as well as scores of other languages one word may have a range
of meanings. This is what is so lovely about the difference translations
God has lead souls to Translate.
Translate==6.
To interpret; to render into another language; to express the sense of
one language in the
words of another.
The Old Testament was translated into the Greek language more than two
hundred years
before Christ. The Scriptures are now translated into most of the languages
of Europe and
Asia.
7. To explain.
Noah Webster's 1828 Dictionary of American English
They are to all be studied and
used in learning, just like commentaries or any other Christian book. This
is true
of Sunday School literature.
If you go to Church, T.V., Or listen to a lesson or sermon on the radio
it all falls in
the similar categories.
The word translate means
to put in other words. People lead of the spirit can be used to do
the translations.
The Bible in the original
words is God breathed.
2 Tim 3:16 BBE Every holy Writing which comes from God is of profit
for teaching,
for training, for guiding, for education in righteousness:
Rev 1:11 BBE Saying, What you see, put in a book, and send it
to the seven churches;
to Ephesus and to Smyrna and to Pergamos and to Thyatira and to Sardis
and to
Philadelphia and to Laodicea.
In the case Revalation as well in other Scriptures God had the writer write
, put down, what they saw.
They described
it in their terms. God spoke to them and God showed them what to write.
I doesn't
change anything God is in control in the writing His word.
John 1:1 BBE From
the first he was the Word, and the Word was in relation with God and was
God.
At the time
this letter was penned by Paul, God breathed ( gave life to his word )
the words Heb 4:12. The only version was The
Greek Letter to Timothy. It was not until over 1600 years later did we
have the KJV translation.
Various souls over the years have been saved by the employment of the KJV.
There is such a blessing in all
of the Translation of the LORD’S
Holy Word. It is a shame there are so many People missing out on God's
blessing because a church leader would dispute and claim the KJV is the
God Breathed word of God like it was a
separate work.
That argument would support the Christian Science and the Mormons, and
Jehovah witness.
Before you attack a writing or anything anyone is doing for the Lord study
it yourself. There are so many Christians that attack books, when if they
were teaching their children and doing things with their children most
of those things would disappear.
Most of it should be read or seen rather than take someone else's word.
We are to teach our children
right from wrong. Deu 4:10
My hope is you will
just ask God to bless you with this study. Our use of difference
translations are just
another opportunity for God to
speak to your heart. Just simply ask God through his Holy Spirit to let
you enjoy
the truth of these studies.
Also ask God to
let you see the right and the wrongs as you study. Thanks For you Openless
to The Power of God in your life.
If you are saved or not saved,
you and only you have to answer to God.
You don’t have to answer to a
preacher, a priest, or me. Only to God do you have to answer, give an explanation.
The translation
that is being used is Bible in Basic English
The form in which the Bible is
given here is not simply another example of the Bible story put into present-day
English. The language used is Basic English.
Special
Bible words and the use of 100 words listed as giving most help in the
reading of English verse, this
number has been increased to
a total of 1000 for the purpose of putting the Bible into Basic.
Rom 11:1 BBE
So I say, Has God put his people on
one side? Let there be no such thought. For I am of Israel, of the
seed of Abraham,
of the tribe of Benjamin.
Facts:
1. Paul is talking to the Romans, Greek, Gentiles.
2. As we will discover as we read and study that Gentile Salvation is because
of Israel
not because they rejected Christ. Jesus was a Jew.
3. To make a point Paul asks a query in order for people to consider and
come to an
understanding. Great men of God of former times and today ask Questions
and then respond to the questions.
4. Paul states he is an Israelite, not a convert but born of the seed of
Abraham.
He even tells the tribe, Benjamin Joseph’s brother, full brother.
Joseph was a type of Christ.
5. Paul’s life had been one of coming from the negative to the truth.
Rom 11:2 BBE God
has not put away the people of his selection. Or have you no knowledge
of what is said about Elijah in the
holy Writings? how he says words to God against Israel,
Facts:
1. Israel is still God’s chosen people. They rejected Jesus there by breaking
fellowship.
2. Paul asks if they knew of Elijah in the Holy Word.
3. It is not so much Elijah speaking in opposition to Israel as Elijah
telling what the nation
of Israel is doing.
1 Kings 19:10
Rom 11:3 BBE Lord,
they have put your prophets to death, and made waste your altars, and now
I am the last, and they are searching
for me to take away my life.
Facts:
1. Be quick to attack bogus preachers. But touch not God’s anointed.
1 Chr. 16:22; 1 Sam 24:10; 1 Sam 26:9.
False Prophets. Mat 7:15; 2 Cor 11:13; Gal 2:4; 2
Thess 2:9; 2 Peter 2:1;
1 John 2:22; 1 John 5:21
2 John 1:7 BBE Because
a number of false teachers have gone out into the world,
who do not give witness that Jesus Christ came in the flesh.
Such a one is a false teacher and Antichrist.
2. They even made waste of God’s altars. 1
Kings 19:10, 14
3. Elijah feared for his life.
Rom 11:4 BBE But
what answer does God make to him? I have still seven thousand men whose
knees have not been bent to Baal.
Facts:
1. God answered Elijah.
2. God had reserved to Himself seven thousand men.
3. These men have not bowed to Baal, the Devil.
4. These where faithful.
5. Baal
BA'AL, n. An idol among the ancient Chaldeans and
Syrians, representing the sun.
The word signifies also lord, or commander; and the character of the idol
was varied by
different nations, at different times. Thus Baal Berith is supposed to
signify the Lord of
the Covenant; Baal Peor, or rather Baal Phegor, the Lord of the dead. Ps.
cvi, Baal Zebub,
the god of flies, &c.
Noah Webster's 1828 Dictionary of American English http://www.e-sword.net
Rom 11:5 BBE
In the same way, there are at this present time some
who are marked out by the selection of grace.
Facts:
1. Paul say that there is a remnant of the Israelites today which are faithful.
2. How are they faithful by the Grace of God. They are saved by Christ.
3. A spiritual Israel within the nation of Israel.
Rom 11:6 BBE
But if it is of grace, then it is no longer of works:
or grace would not be grace.
Facts:
1. Salvation has at all times been by Grace. Adam and Eve tried to handle
their own
sin by a covering of Plant life representing man’s personal works of righteousness.
This is the same as church membership, preaching, helping your neighbor,
and water baptism as a means of salvation or a means of helping God out,
all the works are done since one is saved not to obtain salvation.
Eph 2:8 BBE Because
by grace you have salvation through faith; and that not of yourselves:
it is given by God:
9 Not by works, so that no man may take glory to himself.
10 For by his act we were given existence in Christ Jesus to do those
good works which God before
made ready for us so that we might do them.
2. God the LORD provided. The shedding of blood in the animal skins.
Gen 3:21 BBE
And the Lord God made for Adam and for his wife coats of skins for their
clothing.
Heb 9:22 BBE
And by the law almost all things are made clean with blood,
and without blood there is no forgiveness.
Cp Gen 4:1-7. Gen 4:7 Could be translated thus
“ a sin offering croucheth at the tent door.”
All Cain had to do was just accept the price.
The LORD provided the offering for Cain’s sin.
3. From the creation God has through the promise of His son, Gen
3:15-16,
( Old Testament saints looking forward to the cross in faith ) provided
the ultimate
sacrifice, sin offering.
We now look back to Christ Jesus and the finished work of the cross,
for salvation is by faith. John 19:30.
4. In verses 6 Paul makes an understandable
statement, if it is Grace it is not works.
All of the temple worship was works. All of the cleansing rites where works,
symbolic.
Baptism, church membership, preaching, soul winning is work. The believer
works for
the reason that they have a story to tell.1 Cor 15:1-11.
5. Do you have a Testimony to tell? All you have to know is what Jesus
did for you.
The Holy Spirit dwelling in you will help you. I hate to say feelings but
if you don’t see
or feel the present of the Spirit are you saved? A person which is sure
of their
salvation is free, they don’t get puffed up if God’s word makes them search
their soul.
Heb 4:12 BBE
For the word of God is living and full of power, and is sharper than any
two-edged sword,
cutting through and making a division even of the soul and the spirit,
the bones and the muscles,
and quick to see the thoughts and purposes of the heart.
1 Cor 11:28 KJV
But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread,
and drink of that cup.
29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh
damnation to himself,
not discerning the Lord's body.
1 Cor 11:28 BBE But let no man take of the
bread and the cup without testing himself.
29 For a man puts himself in danger, if he takes part in the holy
meal
without being conscious that it is the Lord's body.
6. If works is involved in salvation it cannot be Grace of God. Paul
keeps in
his writings stressing salvation is of Grace and is kept by Grace the seal
of God.
Eph 2:5 BBE
5 Even when we were dead through our sins, gave us life together with Christ
by grace you have salvation,
6 So that we came back from death with him, and are seated with him in
the heavens, in Christ Jesus;
7 That in the time to come he might make clear the full wealth of
his grace
in his mercy to us in Christ Jesus:
8 Because by grace you have salvation through faith; and that not
of yourselves: it is given by God:
9 Not by works, so that no man may take glory to himself.
10 For by his act we were given existence in Christ Jesus to do those
good works
which God before made ready for us so that we might do them.
Eph 4:30 BBE
And do not give grief to the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were marked
for the day of salvation.
Rom 11:7 BBE What
then? That which Israel was searching for he did not get, but those of
the selection got it and the rest were
made hard.
Facts:
1. Israel has not found what Israel looked for.
2. A few found God. The rest made it hard doing it their way.
They were blinded.
(Rom 11:8 BBE)
As it was said in the holy Writings, God gave them
a spirit of sleep, eyes which might not see, and ears which have
no
hearing, to this day.
Facts:
1. Since of non-belief God gave them the spirit of sleep, eye that they
might not see.
Ears with no hearing to this day. 1 Cor 2:14
Rom 11:9 BBE
And David says, Let their table be made a net for
taking them, and a stone in their way, and a punishment:
Facts:
1. Verse 9 speaks for itself, look at the
date 9-11-2001 to 5-16-2002
This is the date this lesson was written.
Rom 11:10 BBE
Let their eyes be made dark so that they may not
see, and let their back be bent down at all times.
Facts:
1. Like blind old feeble men which have had to work hard all or their lives.
Rom 11:11 BBE
So I say, Were their steps made hard in order that
they might have a fall? In o way: but by their fall salvation has
come to the Gentiles, so that they might be moved to envy.
Facts:
1. Through their ( Jews ) fall, salvation came to the Gentiles.
God wants the nation of Israel to be jealous so they will turn back to
Him.
Rom 11:12 BBE
Now, if their fall is the wealth of the world, and
their loss the wealth of the Gentiles, how much greater will be the
glory when they are made full?
Rom 11:13 BBE
But I say to you, Gentiles, in so far as I am the
Apostle of the Gentiles, I make much of my position:
Rom 11:14 BBE
If in any way those who are of my flesh may be moved
to envy, so that some of them may get salvation by me.
Rom 11:15 BBE
For, if by their putting away, the rest of men have been made friends with
God, what will their coming back again be,
but life from the dead?
Facts:
1. Paul states he is an apostle of the Gentile. Notice the words “of the”
instead of
“ to the”. Paul was a part of them. He partook of The Lord’s Supper with
all of the
churches.
To reach souls and kept them in the fold you have to become part of them
and
let them become part of you. I didn’t say to be unequally yoked.
The believers are to come out of the world.
1 John 1:7 BBE
But if we are walking in the light, as he is in the light,
we are all united with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son makes
us clean from all sin.
2 Cor 6:14 BBE
Do not keep company with those who have not faith:
for what is there in common between righteousness and evil,
or between light and dark?
15 And what agreement is there between Christ and the Evil One?
or what part has one who has faith with one who has not?
1 John 2:16 BBE
Because everything in the world, the desire of the flesh, the desire of
the eyes,
and the pride of life, is not of the Father but of the world.
17 And the world and its desires is coming to an end: but he who
does God's pleasure is living
for ever.
We are all if saved by Grace through Christ Jesus are in the family of
God.
Romans 10:12; Eph 3:15
John 1:12 BBE
To all those who did so take him, however, he gave the right of becoming
children of
God--that is, to those who had faith in his name:
13 Whose birth was from God and not from blood, or from an impulse
of the flesh and man's desire.
God Gives the souls in world the right to become a member of God’s
family.
The Child of God is Born of God. It is not because mom or dad or grand
parents
were Christian, not because you were born in a certain country. Well I
decided
to get baptized that was impulse. There are lots of Good things to do and
do
because you are a born again child of God. A believer has a father-son
relationship with God that can never be broken.
There is a song coming home. The story is the son said some things to his
mother and dad that he would not ask forgiveness for. The father had to
ask
the son to leave home. The boy is still the fathers son but fellowship
was
broken. The young man was still in the family.
One day the father got a letter from the son asking forgiveness.
He wrote to his father asking if it was alright to come home again to tie
a ribbon
in the old apple tree by the railroad tracks. There was a preacher on the
train
with the young man. The boy ask the preacher to look because he had
realized the hardness of his sin. The preacher told him that there were
ribbons
all over that apple tree.
If you are saved and have lost the joy of the fellowship with God.
He will welcome you back into the fellowship. You never lost your salvation.
We can only be justified once; but we need to be forgiven everyday.
John in 1 John 1:7 is talking about fellowship.
If that fellowship is broken we still have our salvation by faith but have
lost
the blessing and joy of our salvation. His Spirit still lives inside us.
We have to
let it control our beings.
1 John 1:7 BBE But if we are walking in the
light, as he is in the light,
we are all united with one another,
and the blood of Jesus
his
Son makes us clean from all sin.
8 If we say that we have no sin, we are false to ourselves and there
is nothing true in us.
9 If we say openly that we have done wrong, he is upright and true
to his word,
giving us forgiveness of sins
and making us clean from all evil.
10 If we say that we have no sin, we make him false and his word
is not in us.
The writer of Hebrews explains that salvation is a one time thing. That
Christ
died only once. If you had to be saved
Heb 6:4 BBE
For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened,
and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of
the Holy Ghost,
5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world
to come,
6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance;
seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh,
and put him to an open shame
Again Christ would have to die on the cross over and over.
We put God to Open shame if Christ death and resurrection was not enough
to save
and keep your soul in the family of God.
2. Paul had a desire for his kin ( the Jews ) to be saved.
He was doing what the Spirit was leading him. Paul first love was to see
souls saved.
Is that your first love?
3. What is the most important part of God’s for the believer today?
God’s work has a foundation. What is the foundation?
1 Cor 3:10-12; Mat 16:18.
Eph 2:18 BBE
For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.
19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners,
but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets,
Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an
holy temple in the Lord:
22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God
through the Spirit.
Salvation by Christ Jesus.
If your salvation is not correct other parts of the building will be off.
4. Water Baptism is only a symbol. Christ Jesus is the Foundation,
baptism is only a depiction.
No faith is required to worship an object that can be seen, touched
or physically felt.
The Jews understood what it stood for. Baptism has no authority only God
has the
authority for salvation bought on the cross by His Son Christ Jesus.
The Lord by the direction of His Spirit can transform a soul.
1 Cor 10:1 BBE Moreover, brethren, I would
not that ye should be ignorant,
how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the
sea;
2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;
3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat;
4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that
spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.
They passed on dry land and their foundation was Christ.
Exodus_14:19-22
Rom 11:16 BBE And
if the first-fruit is holy, so is the mass: and if the root is holy, so
are the branches.
Facts:
1. Holy==Sanctification to set a part or to make unique.
2. Christ Jesus is Holy. He is the first fruit.
3. The mass is Holy.
4. If where it comes from is Holy so it will be for the branches.
5. The nation of Israel has lost its blessings and fellowship with the
Lord.
But they are still His chosen people.
I believe the reason Great Britain and the USA have been so blessed
is their support of Israel.
Gen 12:2 BBE
And I will make of you a great nation, blessing you and making your name
great;
and you will be a blessing:
3 To them who are good to you will I give blessing, and on him who
does you wrong will I put my curse:
and you will become a name of blessing to all the families of the
earth.
They will accept Christ Jesus and come into their Glory yet again.
Rom 11:17 BBE But
if some of the branches were broken off, and you, an olive-tree of the
fields, were put in among them,
and were given a part with them in the root by which the olive-tree
is made fertile,
Facts:
1. Consider Paul is relating to the Jews ( nation of Israel ) and the Gentiles
as nations.
